About
Ms. Upasna Upadhyay holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Microbiology from Osmania University and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Microbiology, Chemistry, and Genetics (St.Anns College), Hyderabad. Her previous work experience in developing patient-derived retinoblastoma 3D organoids for Biobanking and personalized treatment, establishing biobank framework for ocular tumours. Her GLP/GMP lab facility & quality management systems exposure and technical expertise in biochemical genetics, cytogenetics, genomics, stem cell isolation and differentiation, cell banking are add-on to her credit. She also participated in ethics regulatory bodies for stem cell research and clinical trials and faced audits with CDSCO and DCGI regulatory authorities. Her skill set expertise in developing in vitro models of spheroids, organoids and organ-on-chip using microfluidic systems as an alternative to animal models. With extensive professional experience, currently she is working on DST SERB POWER funded project on articular cartilage tissue construction as organ-on-a-chip model using microfluidics under the guidance of Dr. Lakshmi Kiran Chelluri.
As a faculty member, she is involved in academics and research for graduate and undergraduate students. She has 10 publications and authored two practical books in collaboration with International journal of microbial science (IJMS). She was awarded Best Researcher and writer award under Research Scholar category by IJMS. She has presented her work at National and International conferences and has also been presented with Bio-Techne Travel Grant to ISSCR (International Society for Stem Cell Research), Boston, U.S.A. Besides academic credentials, she is IRCA certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and CSIR -UGC NET LS qualified. Adding another feather to her cap, she is an active Editorial /Reviewer member of Edwin Group of Journals. Besides, she is a Kathak classical dancer and has won gold and bronze at National level competitions held at Pune, Maharashtra, India, and Goa, India.
